As many faiths look at Lent as a time of fasting and sacrifice, I reflect on what I need to FOCUS on. I was raised Catholic and I celebrate Lent every year. I know people who are not Catholic but also use this time to change some habits and live healthier.
Every year I stress about what I’ll give up. I have been celebrating Lent for so long that I started running out of ideas.
Today I asked a spiritual advisor if I can add something positive to my life instead of “giving something up.” She told me that it’s wise to look at Lent (which means “Spring”) as a fruitful time instead of a painful sacrifice. She said not to just “give up” but to also GIVE BACK. This can be a time for more prayer and to slow yourself down.
As I think more about this I reflect on how much my inner well needs to be replenished. I give to myself first, my clients at work and then to my audience online. I’m not saying my well has run dry. I plan on using these 40+ days to push myself to RE-FOCUS on my inner well. It can only add to my life, and that really requires no mention of SACRIFICE.
Reflection questions:
1. What do you need to re-focus on?
2. Regardless of faith or spiritual belief, could you commit to a change for 40 days? What would you give up and then give back?
3. How is your inner well looking these days?

I look forward to comments on this page, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!
Now can I say I told you so….nobody listens to Mothers…humph!
